ABOUT
Alvin W. Thompson serves as a United States District Judge for the District of Connecticut. He was appointed in October of 1994, after 16 years in private practice with Robinson & Cole, in Hartford, Connecticut.
Judge Thompson served as Chief Judge from September 2009 to September 2013. From 2010 to 2016, he served as a member of the Judicial Conference of the United States Committee on Space and Facilities.
Judge Thompson has been active in the American Bar Association since the mid-1980’s. His involvement has included serving as Chair of the Section of Business Law; chairing and serving as a member of the Scholarship Committee for the ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund; serving on the ABA Commission on the American Jury; serving on the Committee on Disaster, Response and Preparedness; and serving as a delegate to the ABA House of Delegates. His primary area of involvement with the ABA is the Committee on Business and Corporate Litigation in the Section of Business Law.
