ABOUT

Christina Chelliah is a Triple-Qualified Attorney (New York State, England & Wales and Malaysia). Prior to migrating to America, she practiced as a Corporate Transactional (M&A) Attorney in a leading law firm in Kuala Lumpur, and spearheaded numerous domestic and cross-border transactions spanning various industries, representing both foreign and domestic clients.

Upon her arrival in New York, Ms. Chelliah first worked as a foreign consultant attorney for various international law firms in Manhattan. In March 2022, she was also sworn in as a Special Master of the Supreme Court of New York.

She then transitioned into the in-house world by becoming the sole counsel for a unicorn tech startup operating in the NFT and Blockchain Technology space. Christina is currently working as a Corporate Counsel for TransPerfect, a global provider of translation, interpretation and digital technology services.

Christina is an active member of both the New York City Bar Association and the American Bar Association, where she serves on various Committees and also sings with the New York City Bar Chorus, where she also sits on the Board. She is a Business Law Fellow (Class of 2024-26) for the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, and is the first Malaysian attorney to be appointed as a Fellow in the Fellowship’s 26-year history. She is also the Chair and founder of the newly formed Foreign Trained Attorneys Network in the ABA, as part of her vision in fostering a more inclusive legal profession which creates space for internationally trained lawyers.
