BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE
Eleanor Bradley Huyett focuses her practice on government enforcement defense, regulatory compliance, and complex civil litigation. Ms. Huyett conducts internal investigations and defends clients during investigations conducted by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of Education, the Public Company Accounting and Oversight Board (PCAOB), the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), state attorneys general, and state administrative agencies. Ms. Huyett also represents financial institutions in class actions involving claims brought under federal and state consumer protection statutes.
Before becoming a lawyer, Ms. Huyett spent three years working as an auditor in the Insurance and Banking Assurance Group at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Ms. Huyett’s practice builds upon her accounting background and includes various matters: defending student loan servicers in investigations from federal and state agencies relating to allegations of unfair, deceptive, and abusive practices; advising credit reporting furnishers during investigations relating to compliance with the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA); representing public accounting firms during investigations by the SEC and PCAOB; and
obtaining a favorable outcome for a large bank in defending a consumer class action asserting federal Truth in Lending Act (TILA), federal Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and RICO claims.
Ms. Huyett is a member of Ballard Spahrs Philadelphia Hiring Committee.
