ABOUT
Janis teaches at the USC Gould School of Law. Prior to joining Gould, she was Associate General Counsel and Managing Director of MUFG Union Bank. She chairs the American Bar Association’s Law School Teaching Subcommittee and is a member of the ABA Business Law Section’s Securities Holding Infrastructure Taskforce. Janis was the secretary of the Article 5 Task Force sponsored by the ABA and the International Financial Services Association that provided the basis for revision of the UCP and UCC Article 5. Janis is a past chair of the ABA’s Letter of Credit Subcommittee; and Working Group on International Letters of Credit and Bank Guarantees. She is a fellow of the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Documentary Credit World. She is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Transnational Center for Law and Business at USC Gould. She is a frequent speaker and has written numerous articles on letter of credit related topics.
