    ABOUT

    John F. Hilson is an Adjunct Professor of Law at UCLA School of Law where he teaches Transactional Skills and Business Deals. He is a former partner and chair of the Finance & Restructuring Group at Paul Hastings LLP, where he specialized in the Uniform Commercial Code, the Bankruptcy Code, suretyship law, and other related areas of commercial law.

    Professor Hilson served as the Business Law Section Advisor to the Joint Article 9 Review Committee of the American Law Institute and the Uniform Law Commission. He also serves as a member of the American Law Institute and a fellow (and former member of the Board of Regents) of the American College of Commercial Finance Attorneys. He is a past president and member of the Board of Governors of the Financial Lawyers Conference and has served as a member of the advisory board for the Commercial Law Center at Gonzaga University School of Law. Professor Hilson has written and lectured extensively in his areas of specialization, including “Transactional Skills: How to Structure and Document a Deal,” (with Professor Stephen Sepinuck) (West Academic Publishing and the American Bar Association, 2015) and being the editor of Asset-Based Lending — A Practical Guide to Secured Financing (with Katherine Bell) (Practising Law Institute, 8th Ed. 2015).
