ABOUT
Katy is a key member of the SafeGuard Privacy’s legal and content-creation teams. She monitors the rapidly evolving privacy law landscape, drafts assessments, commentary, and policy documents to enable businesses to reduce the cost of compliance and risk. She also handles traditional in-house and HR responsibilities.
Katy is admitted to practice in New York and California and is a member of the Privacy Law Section of the California Lawyers Association. She earned CIPP US certification and is a member of the IAPP Privacy Bar and Women Leading Privacy Sections. Katy co-chairs the ABA Business Law Section Subcommittee on Consumer Privacy and Data Analytics. Additionally, she is a member of the IAB Legal Affairs Council, and the ACC’s IT, Privacy and eCommerce Networks. She participates in Future of Privacy Forum’s monthly Legislation Working Group, Privacy Landscape, and AI Community calls.
Prior to joining SafeGuard Privacy, Katy was elected and served as a Trustee of the Rye City School District Board of Education, leading the Board as President and VP for six years, overseeing annual public votes to approve $90M budgets, instituting successful leadership change, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, bringing $97M in capital projects to successful public bond votes, and shepherding major technology updates. She was a selected speaker at the NY State School Boards Convention.
Katy began her legal career as a Litigation Associate at Snow Becker Krauss, P.C. She is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School and Boston University.
