ABOUT
Robert E. Ward, J.D., LL.M. has practiced as a tax attorney for over 40 years. He is the founding principal of WardChisholm, LLP, a firm of tax attorneys with offices in Bethesda, Maryland and Vancouver, British Columbia. He advises clients in Canada and the United States on U.S. tax, business, and estate planning matters and represents taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and the United States Tax Court. While practicing law full-time, Mr. Ward was an adjunct faculty member at George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia for 29 years and taught classes in Business Planning, Estate and Gift Taxation, and Estate Planning. He is a frequent lecturer at continuing education programs and is the author of over forty articles on various tax topics appearing in The Journal of Taxation, Tax Management International Journal™, Taxes, Beyond Numbers, The Practical Lawyer, The Practical Tax Lawyer, Practical Tax Strategies, and The Journal of Asset Protection Planning. He is a member of the Bloomberg BNA Tax Management Advisory Board – International and regularly contributes to its Leading Practitioner Commentary. Mr. Ward is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association (Tax Section), Washington State Bar Association (Tax Section), State Bar of California (Tax Section), and is licensed by the Law Society of British Columbia as a Practitioner of Foreign Law. He earned his B.A. degree from Northwestern University, his J.D. degree from University of Santa Clara School of Law, and his LL.M. in taxation from Boston University School of Law. He has been recognized by Washingtonian Magazine as one of the Washington D.C. area’s top estate planning attorneys and by Super Lawyers® Magazine as one of Maryland’s top tax attorneys.
