Jim Harbell is head of the firm’s Project Development & Finance Group. He handles a wide range of energy, municipal and environmental matters and has considerable expertise in energy transactions, particularly thermal and renewables, including power project procurement, finance and development. He has acted for developers requiring regulatory approvals for power plants and transmission lines, contractual negotiations with utilities, steam hosts and major power consumers. He provides strategic advice to municipalities, public agencies and private investors and developers on real estate developments, land use and regulatory approvals. He is a Certified Specialist in Environmental Law by the Law Society of Upper Canada and is recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada, Legal 500 Canada, International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers, Chambers Global and Chambers Canada, among others, for his expertise in Energy.
