    ABOUT

Lori Sommerfield, a partner in Troutman Pepper Locke LLP’s Washington, D.C. office, has over 25 years of experience in private practice, in-house and federal government settings.  Lori specializes in federal and state antidiscrimination law regulatory compliance, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), fair lending laws (Equal Credit Opportunity Act and Fair Housing Act), and responsible banking laws (UDAP/UDAAP).

Lori has particular expertise in providing practical legal advice to clients concerning how to make websites and mobile applications accessible in compliance with the ADA and corollary state laws.  She provides advice on development of effective ADA risk management programs, including accessibility policies, procedures, training and job aids, and assists clients in navigating accessibility operational issues.  Lori often serves as a liaison between clients and website accessibility consultants to ensure that client digital assets are properly assessed, remediated to address any accessibility deficiencies, and then maintained.

Lori is a frequent speaker on antidiscrimination laws and a regular contributor to her firm’s podcasts and blog posts.  She is also a member of the ABA’s Consumer Financial Services Committee and Banking Law Committee.  Prior to joining Troutman Pepper Locke, Lori held executive positions as in-house counsel at major financial institutions and served as outside counsel for financial services clients with two nationally recognized law firms.
