    ABOUT

Building on a long background in municipal real estate law and land use, Louis Rossitto brings a wide range of skills and knowledge to his practice in residential and commercial real estate matters, as well as consumer finance issues. He advises financial institutions and their affiliates, mortgage companies, sales finance companies, fintech companies and their lending partners, and others on matters at the state and federal level, including regulatory and compliance requirements for consumer and commercial loan documentation.

Until recently, Louis served for several years as Assistant City Attorney to the City of Houston assisting the City and its residents in resolving land use issues, which is a major concern in a city that has rules for development and land use, but no zoning laws. Louis also litigated land use violations in district court; represented the City in negotiations and proceedings, including in dangerous building hearings; enforced land use restrictions by working with property owners; and protested the issuance or renewal of liquor licenses for problematic businesses. Previously, Louis practiced at a Houston law firm, where he conducted numerous trials for the collection of consumer debt.

While at Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Louis was appointed to lead the Law School’s Diversity Committee. He is a member of the Rusche Alumni Business Advisory Council Committee for Stephen F. Austin State University’s Nelson Rusche College of Business. He and his fellow committee members meet regularly to address current issues relating to the University and the College of Business and to assist students in the transition into their professional lives.
