ABOUT
Sam is the Arthur Weiss Distinguished Faculty Scholar and Professor of Law at Penn State Law in State College, Pa. He is also the Director of the Center for the Study of Mergers and Acquisitions at Penn State Law. He has been a full professor at the UVA and UCLA Law Schools and was the Dean of the University of Miami School of Law. He is the author of many books and articles, including the six-volume treatise: Mergers, Acquisitions, and Tender Offers, which is published by PLI and updated twice a year. His most recent book, Corporate Valuation in M&A, will be published in December 2023 by PLI. Sam is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School and has an LLM in Taxation from the NYU School of Law. He is a proud graduate of West Chester University, where he played on the varsity football team, and he has a Masters in Applied Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He is the proud father of Samuel C. (Tommy) Thompson, III.
